We first met face to face on August the 8th 2020, following a couple of months of exchanging messages after meeting online through Match.com. Five years later the lockdown love lasted and we are getting married.
Our first face to face meeting, came after the COVID19 first lockdown and following a holiday Rebecca had been on holiday with her good friends Jack, Danielle and Lewis. We met at Doncaster Services as Rebecca drove home. I arrived first and headed inside to get the coffee’s, on the way out I rang Rebecca to see where she had parked. I explained my location relative to the entrance of the service station to be then sent in completely the wrong direction, aimlessly walking round the car park with two coffees tucked under my chin and a phone in the other hand to eventually find her parked right behind my own car! Rebecca still isn't great at knowing her left from her right when giving out instructions.
That aside we met up again the following day where we went out for fish and chips and sat in the car alongside the beach before I was given the grand tour of Cleethorpes landmarks including the council offices where she worked, the blue flag beach and of course a drive past the dock tower.
Our relationship went from strength to strength with Rebecca meeting my children, Alex and Jacob in the summer of 2021. Whilst the last few years have given us many challenges to overcome, we've also enjoyed going for days and meals out, as well as family holidays. Rebecca has firmly established herself as an integral (and essential) part of mine and the children's lives.
Skipping forward a few years, I decided to propose on the 15th of November 2024, we both had a day off work and took advantage to go for a wander around Belton House after the children had been dropped off at school. It was a crisp and peaceful morning with virtually no one around. As we sat on a bench overlooking the lake two swans in took flight staying just over the surface of the water heading in our direction in complete unison, it seemed like the perfect moment to ask the question. Now if you know me, I couldn’t get down on one knee and get back up again so sat on a bench seemed the next best thing. After tears and a shocked expression for a few seconds I finally got a ‘YES’.
2025 is the year we not only get married but move into a new home together as a family with Alex and Jacob. We are all excited at the new adventures ahead of us, and want to say a huge thank-you for joining us on our special day. Your presence is more important to us than a present.
